Wuhan

Wuhan is the capital of Hubei Province in central China. It is the largest city and central hub of Central China. The Yangtze River and its longest tributary, the Han River, run through the city, dividing it into three towns — Wuchang, Hankou, and Hanyang — facing each other across the rivers. Known as the "City on the Rivers" , the name derives from the Tang poet Li Bai's verse written at the Yellow Crane Tower. It is also historically called the "Thoroughfare of Nine Provinces" , reflecting its role as a major transportation crossroads. Famous attractions include the Yellow Crane Tower (one of the three great towers south of the Yangtze River), East Lake (China's largest urban lake), the Wuhan Yangtze River Bridge (the first road-rail bridge over the Yangtze), and the historic Jianghan Road.
